INT’L EXPO BUILDING : NOISE

The San Francisco World’s Fair building and ferry terminal celebrates and encourages the absence of noise in the world. Noise, or varied judgment that causes human error, is every present in the world today. This “noise” polarizes many groups in all categories, from politics to social media. The purpose of my world’s fair building is to encourage the silencing of this noise to cultivate a calm and fluid atmosphere. The formal geometry of each building speaks to this silencing through its pure and simple design. The ferry building welcomes visitors in a hushed manner, being integrated into the landscape and minimally abrasive to the surrounding context. The bridge to the main building follows this geometry, as does the facade of the main building.
